When placing the sculptures in this gallery, Ann Christopher RA took into account the impact they have both on each other and on the empty space between them. We often ignore empty space, our gaze travelling through it without a second thought, eager to cling onto something solid. But in the air held in the split trunk of David Nash OBE RA’s Red Around Black, we become aware of it. Invisible lines of energy reach out across the room, just as each visitor affects the space as they move through or stand in the gallery.
