Lecture Room

Fiona Rae RA has turned the Lecture Room into a room of ghost stories – a space poised between the solid and intangible, where things are never quite what they seem. On the black walls, which convey the darkness when ghost stories are most powerful, hover paintings that invite us to walk between different states of being, and to transcend the physical for the metaphysical realms of beauty, joy and poetry. The difference between the figurative and the abstract is often seen as a yawning chasm; a stark choice between the real world and the imagined realms of art. But for Rae, these ghost stories of the abstract are a reminder that there are countless unseen worlds waiting to emerge.
