Gallery: Gallery III

Gallery III

Gallery III is our largest gallery, and generally acknowledged by the Academicians as the single most challenging space in the Summer Exhibition. Jock McFadyen RA tackled the challenge with aplomb, mixing painting with photography and building distinct patterns, where oils flow into photography and abstraction and figuration co-exist. Each wall is anchored around a large work that reflects the world in a different way, from Anselm Kiefer Hon RA’s desolate wasteland and David Hepher’s housing block, to the ocean upon which Marcus Harvey’s ghostly galleon floats.
