From a lion gilded in Tunnocks teacake wrappers to a photo of Nelson Mandela’s birthplace by Hannah Collins, the Wohl Hall has been transformed into a wild, imagined, real, fierce, domestic menagerie that addresses overfishing, national sovereignty, history and scientific manipulation. Coordinated by Jock McFadyen RA and featuring works by Banksy, James Prosek, Polly Morgan and Humphrey Ocean RA, the gallery plays on the popularity of pets in the Summer Exhibition – while making a serious point about human impact on the natural world.
