Room: Gallery VI

Gallery VI

Architect Eva Jiřičná RA has taken inspiration from the constructivists in her design and hang of the architecture room this year. Bold colours and large plinths bring an optimism and cohesion to the display, which includes imaginative student projects, daring designs from promising young practices and delicate drawings from established names such as Norman Foster and Renzo Piano. Among the models and drawings, a canvas wall-hanging called Sabrina by artist Michael Lisle-Taylor is a welcome surprise. It expands to become an inflatable swan and, like the architectural works in the room, shows how conceptual ideas are conveyed in objects.
